Who doesn’t love to travel?
No matter your age, occupation or location, you can always take a journey from your Head to your Heart. Everyone has struggles and could use a little love and joy from time to time. Taking a trip from your Head to your Heart, by yourself or with a friend, can be an excellent way to try something different, to experience life in a different place, and to get some much-needed healing on the way. It’s a trip you must take; it’s very easy to plan and can be taken from anywhere in the world.
1. Getting to your destination
Like any other trip you are about to embark on, begin by choosing how you will get to your destination. That will determine everything else in your journey. The options for how to take a trip from your Head to your Heart are many. There are daily meditations, yoga practices, journaling practices, and affirmations. There’s intention setting, life changing retreats and courses that can impact your life forever. Sometimes prayers are the way and sometimes just sitting still works. Often, spending time by the ocean will get you there.
But the fastest and cheapest way to get from your Head to your Heart is by just feeling your feelings.
2. When and how long will your journey be?
Next, in any trip planning, you need to pick your dates of travel. However, in the journey from your Head to your Heart, once you start your trip it goes on for the rest of your life. No dates needed. And no vacation days from work.
3. Things you will need to prepare and to remember before you take your journey
Preparing for the journey from your Head to your Heart is up to you. You can take years to plan and research every possible detail and things you will need for this trip or you can just wake up and decide that right now, today, at this moment you are starting your journey. We recommend not waiting. The best time to take this trip is right when you realize you want to take it. Some things that are important to prepare before you go: a special space in your house for your journey, for you to connect to your heart. An altar. Fill it with your favorite things like crystals, and stones. Books and photos. A comfortable pillow or two, some candles, and maybe a few flowers and some sage. You can prepare the basic things and add and change as you start your journey. This journey is flexible and open and is yours to build, even when you are on it. Don’t forget to bring these things with you on your journey: Love, compassion, acceptance, understanding, forgiveness, and empathy among many other emotions. You can always find them when you get to your heart but traveling with them will make your journey much more enjoyable and easier. Other important things to not forget to bring are patience and willingness. They will help you a lot with all of the problems and blocks you will come across throughout your journey. It is highly recommended to leave behind: negative thoughts, blame, shame, judgment, resistance, old beliefs, depression, and anxiety. Those are not allowed to travel with you; if you do you will probably be stopped and your trip will be interrupted, delayed or even canceled.
4. Places to stay and see along your way
On the journey from your Head to your Heart there a few places you can stay at and visit that are just as worthy as being at as your Heart. The biggest place to visit on your way is probably your throat, where your true Voice is. It is well worth it to make a stop there and let your Voice speak. Let your Voice be heard. Speak your truth, share your voice, it is unique and wonderful and well worth the stop. A few other smaller places worth stopping at on the way are your Mind and your Eyes. Even though they are very close to the start of your trip they hold a lot of value by themselves. Make a short stop at your mind and practice some positive affirmations. Challenge the things your mind is telling you. It will be good for you at the start of your journey. After your short stop at your Mind, continue just a bit more and make another short stop at your Eyes. Spend some time looking at yourself in the mirror and saying hi to yourself. Giving yourself compliments while looking at yourself. Say some nice things to yourself. Trust me, it is well worth the stop on the journey from your Head to your Heart.
5. Where do stay when you get there
Next, comes the decision about where to stay while you get to your Heart.
The good news is that your heart never gets sold out.
Your Heart never runs out of space. Your Heart is never not in season. Your Heart is never overbooked. All the places to stay in your Heart are free of charge and require no deposit, advance reservation, or credit card. The only travel tip for staying at your Heart is trying to stay there as long as you can because once you leave you will need to make the journey all over again. So take as much advantage of this as you can and stay as long as you can in your Heart.
When you finally get to your destination, the Heart, it is well worth the journey!
There are so many things to see, experience, do, try, or just be in your Heart. From filling your day with Heart centered activities like yoga, meditation, a walk on the beach, or lunch with a friend you love, to just lying in bed and looking at the sky and trees outside your window and filling your heart with gratitude for this simple moment. One of my favorite things to do when I get to my Heart is to just live my life there. Living my life in my Heart is the most joyful experiences I have ever had in my entire life. It is where bad days are only challenging days and not the end of the world. Where the good days are magical and full of awesome experiences no matter what happens in them. Where the challenging days are met with love, compassion, and self-care. Where everyone you meet is a friendly soul, whether you know them or not, and where triggering and annoying people inspire empathy and understanding in you. Where life is a full and joyful experience no matter what you have and who you are.
7. Things to do when you get back from your journey
Unfortunately, you will find yourself getting back to your head at some point. Like any trip we come back from, there will be a period of crashing, where you will miss visiting your Heart and the journey you took there. It’s ok. You can spend that time happily reminiscing over your memories and experience with yourself and with others. Fill your Instagram feed with images from your journey. Share some stories from your trip on Facebook. Take shorter day trips to your Mind and your Eyes. You are doing great. Please don’t be discouraged. The most empowering thing about taking journeys is that they can be taken over and over again. Your Heart is waiting for you to visit again. All you need to do is just wake up and start again with step one. It won’t be long before you will find yourself back on the journey from your Head to your Heart. And since you already know the way you can probably get there much much faster than before.
