Lead strategic roles, including CEO, CTO and Chief of Staff positions will be headquartered in Boston.
Austin, Texas (May 18, 2016) – Besomebody, Inc., the fastest growing Motivational Movement in the world and the creators of the world’s first Experience Marketplace, is moving its base of operations from Austin, Texas to Boston, Massachusetts. While the movement is worldwide – now reaching 5 million people in 185 countries – the company has been headquartered in Austin since its inception in March of 2013.
The company’s core operations, product development and strategy teams will be based in Boston, with the content and creative teams remaining in Austin. The Austin team will also continue growing the Marketplace locally. On the Besomebody Marketplace, users can learn anything they are passionate about by booking Experiences with talented people around them. Those who host the Experiences – called Passionaries – make money by teaching others who share their passion. The successful Austin test market generated revenue for Passionaries and enabled thousands of people to do more of what they love.
“Austin will always be a huge part of the #besomebody story, and it will always have a very special place in my heart,” said Kash Shaikh, Besomebody, Inc. Founder and CEO. “Aside from going to school here and having my family here, every big part of the #besomebody journey started here. From our global graffiti tour in 2013, which began with a beautiful mural on the side of the University of Texas Co-Op building, to the opening of our first office in East Austin, we shared so many special moments in this city. We will always be connected to Austin, and most importantly, the friendships and relationships we’ve built along the way will stay with us forever.”
Besomebody has chosen Boston as its home base for three core reasons: To work closely with new partners and investors located in the area; To concentrate the next phase of its Marketplace growth in the Northeast – the most densely populated region of the country – including New York City; and to more deeply focus on the company’s broader vision for Experiential Learning – Boston is home to the most institutes of higher learning in the world.
“The ultimate vision for our Marketplace is Experiential Learning,” said Shaikh. “The current education system is broken, and doesn’t work for a very large group of people. We know THIS because we’ve spent the last three years talking to tens of thousands of teachers and students and parents across the world. And tens of thousands of people who are stuck in jobs they hate while paying off loans for degrees they never wanted in the first place. That student debt crisis is crippling the futures of so many people – last year was a record year of student debt, at $1.2 Trillion. We believe the future of education lies in passion-based Experiential Learning, and we’re excited to move further down that path in Boston, the global epicenter for education.”
The Besomebody Experience Marketplace is currently available via the #besomebody iOS app, with the majority of Experiences offered in the Austin area. The company will introduce an expanded product offering – including both a Marketplace presence on Besomebody.com and new paths for Experiential Learning – in the coming months.
