"When I was 8 years old, my younger brother learned how to do a back flip into a pile of leaves. He got so much attention that I envied him, so I ran to the front of the house and immediately did a back flip in the middle of the street to prove I could do it too! That was my first foray into gymnastics. My dad enrolled us into a prestige school dedicated to athletes & physical education, it was like something out of the movie 'Fame'.

We both tried out for the Gymnastics team the moment we got there. It was incredibly competitive but we made the team! I felt like a superstar. Eventually we became members of the United States Gymnasts Federation and participated on the national power tumbling team.

My experience with gymnastics made me strong, taught me to be disciplined, and really kick started my love of all things fitness-related. In fact, I love being in the gym so much I actually bought one! I use the gym as a platform help others understand the importance of fitness and motivate them to be healthy. I'm a personal trainer, bodybuilder and recently created a startup called The HossFit Movement, which is all about motivating people to be physically active!

The HossFit Movement ...

My mother lost her battle to ovarian cancer and my sister is in remission from the same form of cancer. Cancer is something you really don't have too much control over, but we can definitely improve our odds when faced with that challenge by taking care of our bodies. My mom and my sister have also fueled my passion to help everyone I meet be healthier and stronger and are a driving force behind why I started The HossFit Movement and #besomebody inspired me to do it!

Have you ever heard the expression "use it or lose it"? It's true! If you don't use your body, you will start to lose it. Muscles become flabby and weak. Your heart and lungs won't function as efficiently. And your joints will be stiff and prone to injury. Inactivity is as much of a health risk as smoking! To quote Brad Pitt in World War Z, "Movement is life."

So what exactly is the HossFit Movement? It's a movement that motivates people to be physically active! And that can mean going to the gym to work out, hiring a personal trainer, organizing some friends to go on a hike with or booking a birthday celebration spin class! These are all things I've done with members of the HossFit community. And the best thing is, this community is open to everyone to join!

Being HossFit is defined as:

1. The condition of being sound in mind & body
2. Having marked mental and physical strength
3. Characterized by extraordinary determination to overcome all obstacles

My hope and goal is to help people engage with each other in sustainable, health-related ways and to create a global community of HossFit citizens!
